St Stephen's Episcopal Church
              Oak Harbor, Washington

St Stephen's Episcopal Church is located on the
north end of Whidbey Island in the
city of Oak
Harbor . The church has been in Oak Harbor since
1954 when it was made a mission church of the
Diocese of Olympia.    During the 60's and 70's the
church was an active part of the diocese with
outreach to the local and regional areas.  In Oct
2004, the vestry and priest voted to disassociate
from the Episcopal church, becoming St Stephen's
Anglican Church, and that group continued  to
worship in the main church building.  Since that
time, the Episcopal congregation has met in homes,
and eventually moved back into the All Saint's
Chapel building. The Episcopal congregation has
continued its parish status with the Diocese of
Olympia, and from Feb of 2007 until Oct 2009 had a
1/3 time Rector.  With the Rev Dick Scott currently
serving as Interim Priest-in-Charge, the
congregation is now seeking a 1/2 time Rector.

By Interstate 5, from either the south
or north, take Exit 230 in Burlington
and continue west on State Route 20
onto the island across
Deception Pass
Bridge.
Oak Harbor is eight miles from
Deception Pass Bridge.
From Seattle, if you want to take the ferry
instead of driving the entire trip, take the
Mukilteo exit north of Seattle off of
Interstate 5. The 20- minute ferry ride
takes you to Clinton, Whidbey's
southernmost community. It'll take
another 40 minutes to reach Oak Harbor.

From Port Townsend on the Olympic
Peninsula, take a 30-minute ferry ride to
Keystone, four miles southwest of
Coupeville. Be sure and check the ferry
schedule for cancellations due to low
tides at
http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries.
Oak Harbor is about 20 minutes from the
ferry landing. Reservations are
recommended.
Whidbey Island is a vacation
destination because of its state
parks, beaches and proximity to the
San Juan Islands.
Deception Pass
State Park is one of the most visited
parks in the northwest.
Skagit
Valley, on the mainland, provides
the closest mainland communities
with Burlington and Mt Vernon
providing shopping, theaters and
local activities.  The annual
Tulip
Festival in Skagit Valley is one such
activity on the mainland.
Outreach is an important part of
our worship.  We give food to the
local Help House each month, we
support Habitat for Humanity with
lunches, we are actively involved
in buying Mosquito Nets for Life,
we select an outreach each
month for a special gift, and each
year we support the Hispanic
members of a local congregation
with Christmas gifts for their
children.  We have recently
raised funds to purchase a well
for a village in need of clean and
healthy water.
